There are thousands of fashion bloggers across the globe sharing their own unique sense of style, but I often ask, “What is the point?” Let’s be honest! We are not solving world hunger, finding a cure or making a gigantic difference in our communities, well maybe some……. I have an honest struggle with the shallowness & vanity of it all. It’s the, “Hey, look at me? Check out what I’m wearing? Look how fab my life is?” struggle. I do struggle with the question, “Is it ok to focus solely on yourself, to have moments of selfishness?” There are bloggers with real standout, statement-making personal style & then there are some who just show off the trendiest shoes, dress & bags. Does the latter really have style or just a super thick wallet? In Style magazine did a fun interview with Iris Apfel & this was my favorite quote, “There are very few people with really original style today, since so many people get styled.”
This hit home big time. Questions started swirling in my head…. Do I have style? Do I dare have the right to call myself a fashion/style blogger? What defines a style/fashion blogger? At what moment can you officially say you are a blogger? Is it the number of times you post? What you post? Do you have to buy a certain number of clothing items per week? Do you have to achieve a certain number of followers, likes, etc? Do I tick any or all of these boxes? Am I just following too many fashion bloggers & fill myself with silly doubt? Please link to article below, you will die laughing!
So, what is the answer. I don’t have one. But, I do know this little journey has forced me to learn who I truly am & how I want to present myself to the world. I will never try to be anyone else, just my silly self. I will always be warm, welcoming & have a light-hearted playful attitude. Hopefully, this positive trajectory towards my outlook on life will reflect in my future outfit decisions. I’m excited to see how looks will become more bold, fun, bright & carefree moving forward.
So for today, there is no mind-blowing tip on how to pair my sweatshirt to make it more street-cool or girly or office-friendly. Just having fun on a super grumpy rainy day!
