Ageless Style Link-up!
We are ageless & we have style!!!
Nine fabulous, over 40 fashionistas take on a theme! The first Tuesday of each month our looks are reveled, & here we are today, showcasing Holiday Style!
Do you have a jam-packed calendar of parties, fundraisers & events during the Holiday time? I know I’m not qualified to write an article on the Best Styling Solutions for Holiday Dressing Dilemma & it have it published in Vogue, but I do know how to dress for myself, my lifestyle & work. My hubby & I do, but not like you think. We are the hired help AND that’s not a bad thing.
When attending events, we are working, so that dictates the uniform for the job. Yes, we still like to wear what is appropriate for the event, so we blend in like a guest, but also need to think about comfort, proper footwear, clothing that allows us to easily lift heavy equipment, & yes, crawl on the floors. The first 11 months of the year are busy, but you can’t imagine how bonkers December is for us. With all the winter weddings coupled with annual fundraisers, corporate holiday events, January 1st can’t come soon enough. In a nutshell, weekdays are crazy busy & the weekends are beyond hectic, so my day-to-day styling doesn’t alter much during December.
Does anyone have fantasy dressing? Come oooooooon… Admit it! You know, the thoughts of all the items you daydream of purchasing to create the most ultimate, stand-out look for all the parties you hope to attend. I do!! I feel envious as I ogle over the gorgeous dresses & to-die-for heels as the polished partygoers saunter pass me. I’m very much my own Cinderella.
We’ve had an unseasonably warm fall & winter so far in New England & was excited to be able to wear this look before the temperatures plummet & we are buried under tons of snow. Sequins & sparkle go hand-in-hand with Holiday dressing & I have been dying to wear this slouchy, gold sequin jacket since last year. I also like something that is free flowing, easy to move in as this is something I would wear to work. For colder nights, adding black opaque tights or fitted faux leather leggings keep my lower body warm. Jewelry is risky as it can get caught on something, easily rip off, so I usually only wear my wedding ring. No surprise I had to add a touch of tomboy & comfort with sneakers. Remember, my feet have to be comfortable for hours, so high-heels won’t work. If there is a need to walk through the crowd, I do the switch-a-rooski behind the DJ booth where I have my heels hidden. I know many other women in the industry change their shoes out of necessity to elevate their look in front of guests.
Was I excited for this sunset or what?!?!
My shadow was even happy!
