Is this is a need or is this frivolous?
This has been the biggest lesson I’ve learned during the first month of this 3-month purchase-free journey. I’m constantly asking myself the following questions:
- Must I have this?
- Is this a necessity?
- Will my world crumble unless I have this?
- Will my wardrobe be complete with this item?
- Do I already own something similar?
- How many times will I really wear this?
There has been another lesson learned through this journey. To truly appreciate the mileage I get out of the items I already own. In the past, if I saw something I loved, I would purchase it without hesitaton & the item I purchased before that became a distant memory. I wasn’t taking the time to enjoy what I just purchased, I was constantly on to the next thing. Now, I can look at websites, magazine spreads, bloggers’ post & admire a particular piece of clothing, but I don’t feel I have to own it!
In a previous post with my fashionista friend, Sherry, I showcased this sweet little baby blue top with black piping, gorgeous matching bag & over the knee boots. In an attempt to stretch my creativity in my closet, I pulled together another look with a completely different vibe. I feel so street cool & love the edginess the faux leather jacket brings to this outfit.
This was one of the last few days we had in Salem, Ma. before heading down to Florida. So happy the weather was mild as there was a laundry list of things needed to be completed. This casual look is perfect for running daily errands.
It’s not about feeling denied, it’s about feeling empowered with what you have!
