Ageless Style Link-up!
We are ageless & we have style!!!
Nine fabulous, over 40 fashionistas take on a theme! The first Tuesday of each month our looks are revealed, & here we are today, showcasing Valentine’s Date Night Looks!
We are the worst consumers & don’t get wrapped up in the propaganda with Valentine’s Day or really any Holidays throughout the year. I don’t pressure my hubby to give the typically dozen red roses, chocolates, lingerie & romantic dinner for Valentine’s Day. I promise I’m not the Scrooge of Holidays; it just isn’t our priority. We really try to celebrate our love for each other every day in true, genuine ways.
I feel bad for many people as this day just spotlights those who aren’t in a relationship … the same way the Bouquet Toss at a wedding spotlights who is single & didn’t have a date to bring. It also just puts too much pressure on those who are in a relationship to raise their game in the love department to make up for the other 364 days of the year they weren’t showering their loved ones with jewelry, fancy 3-course dinners & candy.
A typical date night for my hubby & myself usually coincides with a client visit, industry event or private party we are hosting. Very rarely do we make the effort to get dressed up to go out & splurge, just the two of us. My apologies as I couldn’t fully wrap my head around the theme of what would I wear specifically on Valentine’s Day.
I know my style aesthetic & had ideas, but I wanted to ask my hubby what he would like to see me wear. He quickly rattled off, “Heels, fitted jeans…. I like to see your figure.” Isn’t he cute? … & sweet, too? I guess most husbands & significant others appreciate the woman’s body & like us to show our curves & figure. He definitely made feel pretty & so loved. He is always so very complimentary & that means the world.
Sorry to say, I ended up choosing what I felt most comfortable in & didn’t choose anything that my hubby wished, but I hope he liked my outfit either way. Next date night, I promise to wear those fitted jeans & heels! Scouts’ honor!
It was fun playing with texture, bold color & print. I very rarely wear animal print & thought it was high time to pull out this Michael Kors pussy bow blouse that has been living in the back of my wardrobe for close to 10 years. Yes, like 10 years!!! The dress has a wintery, Christmassy feel & there isn’t the literal nod to Valentine’s Day theme with the color palette, but that also seemed too easy & cliché to slap on red & pink head to toe. Basically, this is a look I’ve wanted to shoot since I purchased this velvet Zara dress way back in November. I love how well the emerald green, velvet dress pairs perfectly over the leopard print blouse. Both pieces together are such a statement, so adding a simple clutch similar to the colors in my blouse was a great way to finish the look. As the days are getting warmer, I will definitely create a more summery ensemble utilizing my velvet dress.
