Ageless Style Link-up!
We are ageless & we have style!!!
Ten fabulous, over 40 fashionistas take on a theme! The first Tuesday of each month our looks are revealed, & here we are today, showcasing Pastels! What a perfect theme for springtime!
My hubby & I actually shot this look yesterday & wrote this post the second I woke up this morning, this is the day we begin our journey home to Massachusetts. I wanted to reflect on the exact feelings I was having at this moment.
(Maria Sanchez Reservoir is our favorite place to ride. Surrounded by gorgeous homes, some dating back as late as 1600s & you can see historic Flagler College in the background, formerly the Ponce de León Hotel.)
We always feel a bit blue when we have to return to Massachusetts after such a long, wonderful, warm, sunny stay at our home in Florida. But, this calming pastel blue also symbolizes a tranquil airy feel, peace, rest, calm & harmony. That is the exact feeling St. Augustine gives me when I am here. After working so hard on this phase of our home renovation, visiting some of our favorite places, listening to live music, spending time with our very close friends & most of all, riding our bikes around St. Augustine, it is so tough to say goodbye.
(Originally The Alcazar Hotel, the Lightner Museum is in the heart of historic downtown St. Augustine & located across the street from Flagler College & the beautiful Casa Monica Hotel.)
We have put so much hard work, some serious long hours renovating this house, it is sad to close the front door. We have also made life-long friends down here that we consider family & it is so difficult to say our goodbyes.
Over the past week, we have been doing things for the “last time”, until our next visit. As the number of days of our trip decreases, our anxiety/depression increases as this place brings us so much well-deserved, stress-free relaxation after a grueling season preparing & performing at events & weddings.
(Famous St. George’s Street is a pedestrian only thoroughfare full of galleries, shops, restaurants, bars & even the Oldest Wooden Schoolhouse in the U.S.)
I may have a tinge of melancholy, but my pastel color choice brings a feeling of lightness, innocence, delicateness & femininity to mind. I also couple pastels with springtime, Easter Sunday & that conjures up a sense of rebirth or awakening. So even though I feel sad today, I always have the happy thoughts knowing St. Augustine, our home & friends aren’t going anywhere & we will be back soon enough. We have something to look forward to & a reason to get back to Massachusetts & work hard, so we can save our pennies to get back down here as soon as possible.
(For the best coffee in town, this Crucial Coffee is the place. This tiny little shack was transformed from a blacksmith shop that dates back to the 1770s. I have no idea how it still stands today.)
Me & my decaf, sugar-free carmel, iced coffee …. YummY!
This was a easy, breezy casual look for our last bike ride before packing up & starting our 2-day drive up north. Hope you enjoyed a few photos of some of our favorite locations around St. Augustine.
