Was my 3-month, purchase-free journey inspiring? Wish I could have shown more blog posts with the versatility of a specific item, but hopefully your creative juices were stimulated within your own closet. It’s so easy to grab your wallet, buy something new as the easy answer to complete a new outfit. By giving your wallet a break, hopefully you revisited pieces that had been hiding in the deep, dark corners of your closet & they were placed back into rotation.
While I’ve inspired you (hopefully), I’m eager for inspiration as well. There are oodles of bloggers out there that I stop dead in my tracks when scrolling through IG. I could write a year’s worth of blog posts focusing solely on individual fashion bloggers who knock me off my feet with their styling wizardry when it comes to pulling together a look.
You know what I mean….. There’s that particular blogger that every time you click on her post, you say, “No freaking way!” “How does she freaking do that?” “How’d she come up with that?” “How come I never thought of styling it that way?” That’s what I’m talking about. And, this particular blogger does this to me every single post. Drives me bonkers, but in a great way!
Without further ado, drum roll PLEASE……. my look was inspired by, none other than, Sally of www.steelemysyle.com!!!
Sally, I hope you don’t mind that I borrowed a photo. Had to keep this a secret until I reveled you today.
Come on, isn’t she just beyond incredible?!?!
Sally is so uniquely unique. She has this incredible way of looking at items, pairing them together & transforming…. like a simple t-shirt, into something truly special…. Again, how does she do that?!?! Sally is colorful, quirky, positive, empowering, different, realistic, walks to the beat of her own drum. She is a rebel! I just know if I lived in her hometown, I’d wanna be close friends with her, learn from her, emulate her philosophy to life.
If you have not been to her blog or IG, drop everything, head over & get acquainted with this stylist who will “Steele” your heart.
There is nothing more versatile that a white, long-sleeve, button-down shirt. This Express shirt has been a workhorse in my closet for years. I take special care to scrub the collar & carefully use bleach, so it looks crispy & like new with each wear.
Where does Sally come into play? In a previous IG post, she layered a corset-styled top over a long white tunic with kick flare cropped jeans. Her outfit grabbed my eye & I had to copycat her! By the way, here is another IG post & full blog post with unique styling utilizing her very own corset/bustier.
I lacked one piece of the puzzle: the corset.
I searched high & low. There were tons of options, but they were either too girly, too vampy or just plain expensive. I finally found this Express corset, but didn’t want to pay full price. I repeatedly checked back until it finally went on sale ….. SCORE! Don’t worry, this was purchased in December, this gal is still purchase-free! These kick flares jeans are H&M & my sock boots are Topshop. To finish my look I added this super fun, Couture Planet Iris Apfel bag & so excited to finally wear these statement earrings I purchased from Macy’s over a year ago.
Hopefully, I will make Sally proud!
Nothing is more versatile than grey ankle boots, nice change from basic black. Mine are about 2 years old & from Banana Republic.
Who gives you great inspiration? Who is your muse? How do you take their inspiration to create your very own look?
Leave a comment, love to hear from you. Thanks so much for stopping by, really means the world to me!
